This Pyjama Day, We are putting on our pyjamas at work—not just for fun, but to raise vital funds and awareness for children living in foster care. Because every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and feel supported.
Right now, there are over 46,000 children in out-of-home care across Australia. Many of these children have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse. Being removed from their families can be incredibly painful and confusing. While foster care provides safety, the emotional and educational impacts can last a lifetime.
Children in care often face:
- Ongoing feelings of grief, loss, and instability
- Frequent changes in homes and schools, disrupting their learning and friendships
- Difficulty forming trusting relationships
- Higher risk of mental health challenges and homelessness later in life
That’s where The Pyjama Foundation steps in.
This incredible organisation trains volunteers—called Pyjama Angels—who are matched with children in care to visit them weekly. They read books, play educational games, help with homework, and most importantly, build confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging.
It’s more than tutoring. It’s about connection, consistency, and care—things every child needs to thrive.
