About
National Pyjama Day
National Pyjama Day is all about getting cosy for a good cause, wearing your comfiest pyjamas - at work, school, or anywhere in between - while raising funds and awareness for children in foster care.
This year, the official day is Friday, 25 July 2025, but you can host your Pyjama Day anytime in July or August!
Every dollar raised supports The Pyjama Foundation’s Love of Learning Program, helping kids in care - Australia’s most educationally at-risk group - build brighter futures.
Sign up for FREE and get a host kit packed with posters, balloons, stickers, bunting, and more. There’s no cost to register, just an ask to fundraise (because every dollar counts!)

About
The Pyjama Foundation
The Pyjama Foundation exists to break the cycle of disadvantage for children in foster care (and out-of-home care), who face significantly poorer educational outcomes than their peers.
Without early intervention, many struggle with literacy and numeracy, leading to lifelong barriers in education, employment, and wellbeing.
Founded in 2004 by Bronwyn Sheehan OAM, the Foundation tackles this issue through its Love of Learning Program. Trained volunteers— called Pyjama Angels—are matched with a child in care, dedicating one hour a week to reading, learning, and mentorship.
By building confidence and life skills, we help create brighter futures for children who need it most.
The Love of Learning Program
The Love of Learning Program is the only service of its kind supporting children in care with evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs in the out-of-school environment in Australia.
Volunteers, known as ‘Pyjama Angels’, are screened, trained, recruited, and then matched with a child in out of home care. Together, they spend an hour a week reading books aloud, playing educational games and engaging in fun activities. A Pyjama Angels role is to provide consistent love and support, and most importantly, instil a love of learning in children.
Pyjama Angels give children in care the chance to find their wings and reach their life potential, despite a fragile start.
