Helping foster kids reach their full potential
Every classroom in Australia likely has a child who has experienced the care system.
These children face significant challenges—moving between homes, disrupted schooling, and the weight of uncertainty. But with the right support, they can thrive.
Without one-on-one mentoring, extra guidance, and stability, the odds are stacked against them.
They are less likely to complete Year 12, more likely to fall behind in literacy and numeracy, and are at greater risk of suspension or exclusion from school. Without a strong support system, their dreams can feel out of reach.
But you can help to change that.
Through fundraising for National Pyjama Day, you're helping to provide children in care with learning support, life skills, and someone who believes in them. Because every child deserves the chance to dream BIG and achieve.
Why we need your help more than ever
92%
of children in care have below average reading skills by the time they are 7 years old
57%
of young care leavers (aged 18–25) complete Year 12 or equivalent, compared to 85% nationally.
35%
of children in care are entering the juvenile justice system
The Pyjama Foundation’s Love of Learning Program has proven to be an effective solution, as it supports children in care to form and sustain healthy adult attachments, relationships, gain improved educational success and
increase their confidence.
Pyjama Angels give a Foster Child the chance to find their wings and reach their life potential, despite a fragile start.
